This winter transfer market is always a period of feverish speculation and possible big-money transfers. A number of notable footballers find themselves linked with moves out of their current teams. We examine some of the top names who might be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has kept the forward in contention, reports suggest an important transfer is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker has a deal featuring a £65 million release clause applicable for a two-week period in early January. Recent reports suggest the Premier League champions have emerged as his services. Former suitors such as Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have moved on to other options, leaving clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

The England defender has continued to impress for Crystal Palace despite a summer move to Liverpool falling through. With his contract set to run out in the summer, January is the club's last opportunity to secure a fee for their captain. A host of elite clubs, such as Manchester City and several continental powerhouses like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly be interested. Yet, a winter exit is considered unlikely, particularly given the manager's dependence on the player.

Brennan Johnson

The Welsh forward has found first-team minutes limited at Tottenham this term. Despite finishing as the side's leading goalscorer last season, Johnson has begun only a handful of league games. It is understood the North London outfit would be open to a sale for the correct valuation, believed to be in the around forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an interest.

R. Neves

This Portuguese playmaker might be set for a comeback to the English top flight following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still just 28, while his contract ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a possible opportunity. Clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United have been connected to the player. Additionally, there are rumours from Spain that he is prepared to accept a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran German goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barça under new coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a January exit looks increasingly likely. Villa were once linked as a possible destination, but that option now appears unlikely. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

The prolific England centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling hopes of making the national World Cup. But, arranging a deal poses major hurdles. Al-Ahli are reluctant to sell him, and his reported enormous salary make any agreement complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

C. Gallagher

This dynamic midfielder drew considerable attention in the off-season but remained at Atlético. Having limited starts in Spain this season, he may be eager to secure more minutes ahead of the tournament. United have been strongly connected, and a return to Crystal Palace, where he excelled on a temporary deal, remains a possibility, although financial demands might prove a problem.

Harvey Elliott

Although starring and being named the best player award at the Under-21 European Championship in the summer, the young player has struggled for game time during his loan spell at Aston Villa. Unai Emery has confirmed the loan move won't become permanent. Because of FIFA regulations regarding representing multiple teams in a campaign, a move back to his parent club prior to next season seems to be the sole viable outcome.

K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey attacker is in excellent form for the Italian giants this season. As his existing contract nearing its end, many Premier League clubs – such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are monitoring the developments. The Turin club are desperate to secure the youngster to a lengthy agreement but face a race to retain one of Europe's brightest young talents.

Kees Smit

The much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has earned parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side. The teenager is widely tipped to complete a big-money move in January. Newcastle United reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a signing valued at around £22 million.
